“Chocolate Man” appears in The Seventh Wave

What can I say, within one month two stories found homes. “Speaking in Spanglish” has been doing the rounds and was in two lit pubs for a year and a month before finding a home. “Chocolate Man,” in the other hand, being a Flash Fiction story, was not sent out a lot. I love that The Seventh Wave picked it up. What I love about The Seventh Wave is that they think like I do. Fiction, art, should not only be capable of entertaining, it can also serve and address social issues, be an instigator of dialogue, address without judgment the narratives of our time that are important and that more often than not are drowned by political rhetoric instead of looking in the eye at the human factor. They were also awesome to work with. Their editor was like a nurturing mother, helping a baby during those first gasps of air after arriving in this brave world. I am looking forward to this experience with open arms and hugs. Please support them, like them in Facebook. It is in times like this when art becomes not just important but necessary to filter through the madness of our world.

  1. I recently received the most moving, most encouraging note from the folks of The Seventh Wave. So I asked Joyce, their managing editor, if it was okay if I uploaded their note to my blog. So here it is.
